A Little Bit About Me

Jindo is a perfect model of a dog whose lovely temperament overrides his sad background. He was rescued from a farm in South Korea where dogs were raised for meat. That meant he had neither positive human handling nor socialization. Here at Marin Humane he has been part of a successful program to help him overcome that and learn to trust and love people. He succeeded and was adopted. Unfortunately his owner died, and now Jindo finds himself back at his Alma Mater, again searching for a great home. He is a rags to riches to rags and, we hope, riches again.

He wears, and should continue to wear a Sensation Harness rather than a leash attached to his collar. He walks very nicely on leash with this harness. A large part of their previous handling made these dogs very wary about having their necks (collars) handled. He is pretty much over that but he is a big strong fellow who likes to go his own way. In fact he needs to wear a 'long line" when loose in a fenced area if you have hopes of catching him again. But we must say that he has made progress in this regard, as well as much of his other training, since his late puppy stage.

A dog savvy, adults only family (teens okay) will be great for Jindo. He already knows how to sit and play fetch, which is a good thing since he will need vigorous exercise twice daily. He enjoys toys and should be encouraged with all interactive play. Family Dog Classes will help you get your relationship started, and you might enjoy seeing his talents in other dog sports, especially Nose Work. His breed tends to be strongly independent; group training will strengthen your bond from working as a team. He has an affectionate side for those he loves.
